this project portfolio is a report of my extended project for my first year UAL diploma in creative media film and TV pathway.

target audience research
my target audience is primarily teenagers due to the type of humour and genre of my fmp that being dark comedy and generation z type of random humour, of course people older can enjoy it too depending on their sense of humour but primarily teenagers will enjoy it more.
I'm aiming the project at sci fi and comedy fans as well as what's stated above
the type of audience would be people who can laugh at absurdity and sadness as well as people who interested in the mechanics of a sci fi machine.
i came to these conclusions through connecting what type of people watch films such as the toxic avenger and other dark comedy indie films, i did this by looking at the imbd pages and seeing the comments and what type of people gave it high ratings and what other types of films they enjoy. this picture of childs play also reflects my fmp since they are very closely related with the genre.

the toxic avenger/ has a lot of the comedy style my fmp is going for as well as a small budget
super/ has a dark twist on the roles of super heroes which is similar to the character of spectrum
fight club/ the fights and psychology of this movie inspired some of the scenes in my fmp
the look and feel of the toxic avenger really interests me for some reason the lighting the comedy the over the top action all of it inspired my fmp in some way
I will use the same type of cinematography as the toxic avenger to achieve the feel and theming I am aiming for.
fight clubs tension and switch in tone is also used heavily in my film as well as the duality of man which is presented in the film.
super has a very sad tone throughout the entire film which i really enjoy thus it has inspire me to also make certain elements in my film sad.

for secondary research i revised about the genres associated with my fmp that being sci fi and super hero and i did this by looking at the scripts of films with that type of genre for both.

also i looked at documentaries on amateurish film making to help me understand what I have to prepare for when i actually start filming, these documentary's include How to Make a Short Film - YouTube

I also watched another funny time machine movie called bill and teds excellent adventure which gave me an idea of how my leading roles should act towards each other. it also has a good soundtrack which i want to add to my movie.
i chose to research this movie because it has very similar aspects to my fmp that being time travel and a buddy comedy set up.
