01
impression vs expression
impression is adding detail to scene such as adding a creaky noise for a door or adding foot steps that sound like there walking on something specific
expression is noise trying to display something deeper than detail such as an emotion which could be used through music or different types of sounds that corollate with said emotion
02
impression vs expression
Gremlins (1/6) Movie CLIP - Billy Meets Gizmo (1984) HD - YouTube
in this scene gizmo makes some cute noises which are delivered in a way to add to gizmos cuteness and leaves the scene with a feeling that this creature might actually be real this is an example of expression
an example of impression sound is the fire crackling in the background which gives a sense of depth to the scene and makes it align with the fact its winter in the film.
expression wise we have a couple of sound effects in the background which give of the feeling of warmth and fantasy
another impression is the foot steps the family make when they're walking into the living room, it holds no emotional impact its just a noise to further the movies atmosphere
